Birch with Oak stair tread. Screwed up the opening for the handle a little with the jigsaw. Bought a better saw after this one.

I like the grain on that bottom step – flame-grained oak? Nice, and handy. We have one of those super tall beds and the plywood steps it came with is delaminating, so I may be building one soon.
