Now this is “outside the box”.
It is a backwards bowl, a negative bowl or an inside out bowl.

I don’t know if one has every been made- probably not- it has no purpose, but I had to try it. I can tell people at the shows that I carefully pulled it inside out when it was green!!!!! There is a person born every minute who would believe me!!!

It was fun. It is 7 1/2” diameter and 2” thick walnut with a 3/32 wall. My thinnest yet.
It is finished with EEE, Shellawax and then several coats of clear matte spray.

I added some shots of the way I laid it up to get full use of the 8/4 wood . I added a couple shots of it on the lathe showing the way I begin with a bedan to quickly remove the center and then a finished shot before I took it off.

Well, Jim, That’s interesting. I never thought of that before. Sure will make an interesting conversation piece. Great work by the way. I may give that a try just for grins.

Impressive, especially the 3/32’ wall.

Who else but you would even think of turning an upside down bowl. I haven’t got to where I can do a decent standard bowl yet.
