Just set up a bookcase for my wife in her 2nd grade classroom. Bookcase is made from recovered pallet and crate wood, and some scrap masonite I had lying in the garage. This is the second design, the first warped so bad it was embarrassing. I only got one coat of stain and poly on it before I had to set it up. Masonite was covered in chalkboard paint. Tried to avoid using nails, so I used dowel rods instead. Even though it was rushed, I really enjoyed using up the scrap that has been filling up my shop.

Being a 2nd grade teacher myself, I can appreciate this project a lot. I have to make my own bookshelves!! I am sure it will be greatly appreciated by your wife and the students.
-- Robert, so much inspiration here, and so little time!
