Cypress Band Saw Boxes

August, 2012—A neighbor is having some construction done and offered the carpenter’s left-over cypress cut-offs to Sawdust Tom and me. This is my first project with these boards.

This started as a glue-up of four boards (see last photo). I then penciled some designs on the face, and cut them out on the band saw. The finish is brush-on water-based polyurethane, gloss.

Very nice looking BS Boxes as a set, and you cleverly used the beautiful board’s grain pattern for the front!

Very nice design Art… It is a shame to separate them…perhaps mounting them to one thick piece of scrolled and rounted wood and set at angles next to each other…that would look real nice I’ll bet

These are very nice Art. I like working with cypress, blades go through it like butter only can say I like the residue it leaves on the blade.
