Made a cedar lined chest for each of my three grown kids and a couple for a school auction. Fun project and not as hard as I thought. Made out of poplar. Poplar really takes stain well. Bought a pickup load of it for $30-300 linear feet. Good deal!! Now I wish I would have bought ten times that much!! Moral of the story! Don’t hesitate when you have a good deal!!

Nice project. I also love poplar. You can make it look like cherry, walnut, maple or stain it any assortment of neat colors. I especially like “Minwax Sedona Red” stain on poplar.

Congrats on the sweet deal.
