Baby Cradle

I am always surprised at things you can accomplish that you never tried before. That’s one of the benefits of woodworking. Last year my son and his wife were expecting my first grandchild. I guess the first is somewhat special. I decided to build a baby cradle. Did all the research and decided on one with a stable pendulum base. Made of oak with a poly finish. Real challenging with lots of mortise and tenon joinery and several different angles. Not too bad for my first venture into furniture when cabinets were generally all I had previously made.

DEFINITELY “not bad”.
This is beautiful and I’m sure it will be treasured for many generations to come.

And congrats on becoming a grandparent :)

Your son and his wife should be very pleased with that cradle. It is very nice. Did you make if from a pattern or your own design?

Nice work, Fred, and welcome to LumberJocks.

We are expecting Grandchild number five in August. I haven’t started yet, but will have a cradle similar to this completed by then.
