The LOML asked me to make frames for an oil painting our son painted and also one for the bathroom mirror. The picture frame had traditional corners so I strengthened them by adding walnut splines and inlays in each corner just for something different. The mirror frame was also made out of red oak however I used mortise and tenon joints for strength and added a series of decorative grooves which I stained darker then the frame itself. Please feel free to suggest anything you would do differently so I can continue to grow my skills. Thanks
Bruce

Bruce,
These are nice frames. I like the inlays. This is something that is not normally seen in a frame. It along with the splines add visual interest to the frame. The mirror frame looks good as well. The fluting adds a nice detail to it.
Thanks for the post.
