Cedar Acorn Birdhouse

A friend of mine cut down his Southern Red Cypress Tree and I was lucky enough to get some pieces. (actually I could have had them all but that’s a lot of wood). Anyway, I have been messing around with it since it is pretty soft but beautiful when you shine it up..

My wife has a big heart and is always rescuing animals and as of late she has been rehabbing baby squirrels so I have made her lots of acorns so I can hone my turning skills.

So I turned this acorn and decided to turn it into a birdhouse. I had every intention of it being a hanging birdhouse (from the top of the nut) but I was a little over zealous with the boring and whoops! it was a two hole house. So a little glue and ta da its a birdhouse on a pedestal.
