This oak I cut didn’t look like much more than firewood. So when I planed the slices I was pleasantly surprised. Knew they were meant to be a box. Had enough for 2 boxes. Originally I was going to put cowhide on the top of one. But I couldn’t bring myself to cover the grain. My wife had bought these crosses for me to use. The hinges are Grizzman style made of Russian Olive. Trays are cedar with mahogany dividers. Splines are mahogany.

Both of these are very nice. Love the trays, the hinges, and the cross’s on top. Good job!!
The wood aint bad either. LOL

Look back at the first box you posted and realize how far you have advanced in a very short time! These are very nice but you forgot to list the dimensions and I’ll nag everyone who does this! The proportions are just right.

yes Monte , Andy is right, your sure are doing a wonderful job on these boxes, i love when i look into the firewood and find treasures well worth milling it up for the making of a fine box or two, i myself just milled up some more spalted oak from the firewood pile, im always amazed with the beauty inside…keep at it Monte, pretty soon i think we need to start a box making club on here…..grizzman
