is it a letter opener or a submarine …soon we will know …
and this one is made of well i had to go to the wood store today and saw some Rosewood looked just like this. so I guess it is Mexicali Rosewood …

Mike,
This is a nice project. It is both useful and looks good to.
Thanks for the post.

Looks good to me! How thick did you make them?

Thanks so much to all …
i just checked the thickness and the completed cherry opener is now just under 1/8th in at the widest part of the handle …. but the cherry I see at the tip of the knife has tiny fibres ….there …as if it is really too soft to be sharpened …the blade has kind of a nice edge …tho it could not really slice my finger ….
now the other one ..Rosewood or CocoBolo ..what ever wood it is ..that is going to be much harder possibly could have an edge ….and not that i really want an actual knife edge to it …

Oooh, I Debbie must have a special Shreddies opener we haven’t seen. We can be sure it’s not painted walnut though.
and now back to your regularly scheduled program: gator9t9’s post.
