I finally found a source for unlimited free oak wine barrels. I’m hoping to start making some projects and items that I can sell on the side. I was a lot of fun to make the chair because it’s not exactly fine woodworking. I built the whole chair by looking at a picture in under 12 hours. Finished it with teak oil and spar varnish. I’m going to have to invest in a HVLP because using a sponge applicator takes forever and it’s difficult to get between the slats.

The wine rack is unfinished and was a quick project just to use up the scraps from the first barrel.

Great job, someone else made one like this a while back and I thought the same thing, “How cool is that!”
Nice job.

Cool chair. I like the way you used the ‘spout hole’ on the lower front. And is that slot on the front of the arm for holding a wine glass? Also wondering…. does the wood still maintain the smell of wine? Back in KY, the oak barrels they use for bourbon retains the smell even after machining them.

Great chair. The finish and patina of the wood is quite attactive.

Very cool. I actually like the look of that chair over the traditional Adirondack pattern. The curves make for a lovely design.
