Just starting to put together a group of keepsake boxes, started when I made one for a good friend’s wedding and then just started for other occasions as well, everything from a “hope” chest to a pet memory box. All of my boxes have the oak log medallion on the top with stone accents. On the “treasure box” I used a piece of a maple branch on the front, the other boxes have a stone accent on the front of the box. The wood I use is reclaimed pine, and then cedar. I layer these two woods to give the boxes more dimension. I finish my boxes with shellac then a beeswax and mineral oil wood polish that I make myself. I just really like the look of natural wood and shellac is really easy to work with.

Really cool boxes the joints turned out great and the log slice make them unique.
