...but I haven’t a clue really. I found a town that had a shop that had a room that had a shelf
that had a box that had some blanks in.
The green stripe was obvious from the start and is certainly what caught my eye.
I got it for a euro so if I knew what kind of wood it was, this would be a “gloat” too.

That green stripe in the first picture gives it an optical illusion of having a square inner bowl carved inside. I had
to look at the second picture to see the turned bowl. Beautiful piece of wood and a nice bowl. Looks like you
are having fun with your lathe. Thank you for sharing, and I have no idea what type of wood it is either.

I have been on a continual quest to determine a way to identify chestnut, easily. I have read all the sites, talked to many “in the know” woodworkers and then am amazed at how littler I understand.
Great looking bowl though.
