solid Jatoba flooring, tongue and groove (the two pictures were taken about 8 years apart)

literally the hardest wood I’ve ever worked with yet, hard and dense, but it wears like iron

the stair case treads were done in solid piece Jatoba planks, and when milling the material outside, you could actually see the silica embedded in the wood gleaming in the natural light, will post the stair pictures later

After making a Jotoba sideboard for the dining room and seeing how beautiful the wood looks after ageing for a few years, I decided to do our living room and dining room floors in it. The beautiful burgundy color of the floor in really nice except underneath the area rug that we put in the middle of the living room floor. The wood is still brown under the rug.

I love that wood..

That is one of my favorite woods. Did you use the prefinished Jatoba flooring?

it was not prefinished, it was the metric equivalent of ~7/8 by ~2 3/4

I put down the sub floor, and the flooring myself; and hired a guy to come in and sand and put down the finish.

I’ve never used the engineered flooring, but have seen some nice installations

and yes, the wood does take on different hues with sunlight and age; its great if you want a dark floor with depth
