Hello everyone! It’s been awhile since I posted anything but I still look at what my buddys are posting. There are so many great people on this site.
I’ve been sticking to the small stuff lately. I’ve been off work for 6 weeks for summer break and went back about three weeks ago. Don’t get much done during the summer because I literally spend most of my six weeks at the river. I maybe spent 6 days at home this summer. And of course we are still working on the cabin. I’m done with mudding and taping the ceilings. I’ve been doing alot of window trim. They are all done now. Been painting floors. My husband ripped off our old bathroom last April and he just started building the new one this weekend. So I’m thinking I’m going to have some more small projects for the bathroom soon.
So about the projects. When my son was moving out he was buying furniture on craigs list. He came home with two of these tables for $20.00. When he walked in with them I said “those are prefect for the river”. Metal legs are great out there. If it ever floods again I can always replace the tops. So I bought them from him and he went out and bought another set of tables. The tops were laminate or paper (whatever it is) and blonde which I don’t like. I new it wouldnt take me long to say those tops have to go. I forgot to take a before picture so the third picture is a picture of the old top sitting on top of the new tops. I wanted to keep it simple, cheap and alittle rustic. I just made frames out of pine, using dowels and stapled chicken wire to the underneath. I think they turned out really cute and yes you can set a can or a drink on them and there is no wobble. They work great for out there. I do still need to put a finish on the wood so they are not really done yet.
The black cabinets are hanging on the walls out there for holding fire extinguishers. The doors have screen stapled on the inside and the hinges are just straps of black leather. I made four of these and gave one to my brother for his cabin on his birthday.
Thanks for looking and I hope everyone had a great summer.

A big thanks Grizz. I actually have a new bathroom upstairs and now I get a new one downstairs. The old bathroom was attached to the cabin as a room addition in the early 70’s. Been thru some floods and started separating from the old building. In fact the stilts were leaning. We didnt know it but they were broke off only three inches under the ground. Time for a new one.
