Wildwood Boardwalk Pen Dyed Blue

Back to my stabilizing tricks like with my last pen, this time I added some reactive blue dye to the stabilizing resin. I wasn’t expecting this striped look, but since the resin replaces the air in the wood, and of course fast growth will have more air, it makes sense. Especially since I went a little light on the dye.

Though it’s hard to tell here, the pen has a glossy smooth-as-glass finish finish (you can kind of see it with the reflection of the end of the clip).

I also included how the wood looked right after it was treated and how it looked turned round before the CA finish was applied. Thanks for looking.

That’s really nice! I’ve not yet stabilized any of my wood, but it’s on the horizon. Thank you for posting!

May I ask the details for the process you use to do the decal? I’m thinking about trying some decals myself and hoping to get “more trial, less error”. :)

JJones- I don’t have any decals on there, the lettering was laser engraved. Sorry.

John, I am curious what laser engraver do you have and would you recommend it?

I don’t have an engraving machine, I just bring them to a local trophy shop :)
