This is my first attempt at making a finger drum, I used cherry and maple, it is 12” long and about 5” on all the other dimensions, I used 2 dowels and rubber balls for the drumsticks. I added holes for the drumsticks and holes to help carry the drum.

Here is a video of the drum in action.

I have seen one of these at a friend’s house who is a drummer. How do you know how much wood to cut out to make a note?

I just guessed by looking at photos online and used a 1/4 straight router bit to cut them, If I make another I will do a much better job of cutting them, also I read that the size of the balls on the drumsticks can make different notes.

Not sure what a finger drum is but looks nice none the less. :)
