This bowl was commissioned by a workmate as a wedding gift for a relative in California. I put a California state quarter in the bottom center of the 8 segment Red Oak base. The top ring is Wild Cherry, 2nd ring down is Walnut. The 3rd ring down is Walnut, Mahogany and Red Oak. I’ve been on the sidelines of ‘jocks for a while due to Father injured last May, building 2-story garage/man-cave last summer and Mother severely injured in fall in Jan. No time to post and make things. “Making” won out when I had a spare moment, but I’ve been reading every chance I get. Hope to be more frequently now.

What a neat bowl. I bought a bowl blank to try turning soon – I’d like to take a shot and segmented work one day. Thanks for sharing. Hope mom and dad are doing better!

Dennis,
This is a beautiful bowl. I have really come to appreciate seeing turnings and segmented ones are especially nice.
Thanks for the post.

Very nice segmented bowl. I admire your patience to be able to pull this off.

Thanks for all the great comments from fellow LJ’s out there. Sure is a great way (segmented bowls that is) to kill a lot of time! Very relaxing when things go right but frustrating as all get out if things don’t mate up right.
