Hi everyone here is my latest Extreme Birdhouse . This house is made from 100 year old reclaimed barn wood . It is also the first time building a house just for Purple Martins . A few minutes ago when i was taking these pictures i had a Purple Martin flying from house to house looking for one to nest in so i better get a few more built in a hurry .

Another great birdhouse! What makes it a purple martin house? The shape of the openings? No perches? The interior decor?

Thanks everyone for all the nice comments .
David : It,s mainly the holes that are different for Purple Martins . They used to have round holes about 2 ” diameter but they say if you do the holes like these ones the birds are safer from other predators . So they say . lol

Hi Tom and thanks . The guy that i built this for wanted it to look like his house . I wanted to add more details like dormers and things but i stuck more to the picture of his house .
The holes are 3” wide and 1” 3/6 tall. The experts say that this style of hole is better for the birds .Safer too.
