Made out of basswood, this bird depicts a scene that most hunters encounter sometime in their hunting experiences. I decided early on when creating this piece that I would only make a Limited Edition of 27. I am now working on Number 23 of 27. He measures life-size about 7” long tip of tail to tip of beak. Painted with acrylics then finished with several coats of satin varnish…. he has glass eyes.
THANKS FOR VIEWING!

Hi Dave,
This is another nice carving. The details are simply stunning. I cannot imagine the patience it would take to color in the details as you have.
Out of curiosity do you number and sign each one of your carvings?
Nicely done.

A beautiful bird carving, you’re a very skillful painter.
Woodcocks dive through the air at real high speeds, & make a funny sound.
Some people actually hunt this bird, it must take an awful lot of them to make a meal.
