Made 3 pine jewelry boxes. Used cedar for the trays. Red Cedar for splines. Wife wanted me to make them more personal. When doing hair on hide stay away from anything being finished. You think cat shedding is bad.

I love boxes. I don’t know why but something about organization and beauty just gets to me.

I’m with ya, ED. Can’t have or make enough. First thing I did when I this insane disease..erm…”hobby” was make a half dozen boxes, some screwed together, some just glued up butt joints, some a little more interesting.

None of them were this nice though :)

Nice boxes Monte…!
The scrollwork on the tops really add a unique touch. The hide on the top additionally gives it a unique look. I started using hides and leathers on my box interiors and like it much better than the adhesive velvet.

I also agree about boxmaking being addicting.

Good job on these. Like all the tops——the different ways you did them.

I like these a lot. Dividers and Patron/Grizz hinges add a lot of class as do the contrasting splines. I like the scrolled tops the best. Be looking for a PM on the hair on cowhide.
