As I worked on the plans for our house I struck up a deal with the wifey. She said she would make me fresh tortillas and salsa all the time if I built her the kitchen of her dreams. Well… I get the salsa most of the time but the tortillas are Costco or southside Tucson which is the next best thing to homemade. I can’t complain though, this kitchen is as much for me as it is for her. I have to have a place to sit and watch her make her tasty tamales, chili verde, pasole’, etc… Oh alright, my friends know me for my thick crust pizza, and shredded beef barbacoa.
Anyway, (whiping chin with napkin) about the kitchen:
Spanish Colonial/ Hacienda style Knotty Alder cabinets. Since I love to carve I had to throw some of that into the design. (Corbels, end panels and hood cabinet.)
All cabinets have soft close doors, with full extention ball bearing roll-out shelves behind them. Halogen under cabinet lighting(thinking to replace it with LED lighting).
Bar stools aren’t much to look at. Sorry, I’ll build some nicer ones when the grandkids get a little older…

This is fantastic. My kitchen is just good old red oak. Like it all. Can you post some more pictures so I can admire it somemore. I’m sure this kitchen is the talk of the neighbor hood.
-- But I did measure it twice and cut it three time and it still is to short!

Thanks for all the kind comments! I added a couple more pics of my wife and grandaughter mixing the masa for the tamales. The backsplash is travertine and the mural are tiles I made and fired in my Raku kiln.

WOW! What a wonderful kitchen! And what makes it even more impressive is that it actually gets used!
