I made this jewelery chest for my wife for our aniversary. The inspiration came from the beautiful chest LJ majeagle1 made (thank you Gene).
Woods used are Black Walnut,Cherry, and Ash.
Finish is Shellac.Garnet on the Walnut, ruby on the Cherry, and a few coats of blonde on everything. And of course a little paste wax.
Dimensions are 15w x 15t x 8.5d
The flip up lid is kinda cool.I plan to eventually add a mirror, and I had originally planned to add a secret drawer at the bottom using the base trim as the drawer front, but kinda ran out of time.
Thanks for looking.Any comments critiques welcome.

Very well done Brandon. I like your use of woods. I like the “ran out of time” comment. Been there.

Lookin real good there Brandon!!!
Love the wood combination and the brass knobs dress it up a bit.
The addition of the lift lid is very nice…... ( might have to borrow that one from YOU now !!)
Great job and I am sure your wife will enjoy it for many years to come….
oh, and you are “very welcome, anytime ! “

Thanks guys.
I started it and worked on it off and on between other projects(Im way behind on posting). Then realized I had better hurry up…. uh oh.
I got the knobs and hinges from LV.
Shawn(lol) it actually is a roomy little thing.Over the years I will make her inserts etc as she plans it out.And I will have to get her new arrivals every once in awhile now, fun stuff.

Sweet. I’ve seen the inspiration box and it’s on my short list to make one for my daughter. Well done.

You fool!!! Now you gotta fill it up with jewelry…..And since you did such a nice job it is going to have to be expensive jewelry….. ;-)
Seriously now, no critique, way to go with the trim….I specially like the bottom bead
-- Just because you’ve always done it that way doesn’t mean it’s not incredibly stupid.

Great jewelry box Brandon! When her friends see it, they’re going to want to have one as well.
Well done my friend.

Handsome jewelry chest ! More of an observation than a critique, but the walnut will lighten with age and the cherry will darken so the contrast between them will diminish.

Thanks all for the comments .
Tim she did.Alot.But it would take something horrible for her to not.
Matt ,both my daughters have been asking if I will make them one. They’re 5 and 3.I keep smiling at them and saying “yep”
JG, lol I know, but she really needed one.Im sure you know this but the trim was done on my shaper, fun machine.
Wahoo that wouldnt bother me one bit-would help pay for this hobby- ;)
Monte I hadnt really thought about the walnut lightening.I guess down the road the contrast will flip, light wallnut and dark cherry.
