I was commissioned to build this box for a customer and to her specifications for her husband on their 5th anniversary as a gift, it’s going to be a surprise, she wanted a tall box with deep drawers, she also wanted maple in the center with Walnut on the outside, I added a hidden drawer to the box though just as my own kick. :) It measures 12” W x 6” H x 5” D

Blackie, as usual you have done a masterful job. I like the idea of drawers and an open till on top. This top is very practical for holding wallet, cell phone, keys, etc. Coins, papers, and less often used items will go nicely in the drawers. Great design. These should sell well.
Where did you decide to sign it?

Thanks Al, I signed on the bottom of the hidden drawer. I’ve gotten the dump truck drawn up on the block and will cut it out tomorrow, going with alder and dyeing it yellow per her request, (caterpillar colors).

Hey Randy, I really like your new box….I’m sure your customer will love it as well. What, you are making a dump truck bandsaw box also? I have slowed down on boxes while I am rebuilding my main bandsaw. Guess I had been using it a little to much. We found our two our our daughters are having babies within a month of each other next year, so I have been busy making toy cars, truck, and little towns for them….a ton of fun. I finally bought a mop sander and boy does it work great….I think it will help with the bandsaw boxes as well…only waited about 30 plus years to buy one…LOL

I really like the wood combination on this one. And I’m fascinated by the square surfaces and corners. I think this is more difficult than intricate curves with the bandsaw. Can’t wait for the dumptruck.
