My wife’s school decided to cut off the bottoms of all the cubbies that has been installed years ago. They were throwing out the cutoffs. I fished over 40 pieces of 3/4” double laminated MDF out of the trash. I cut the scraps down with my table saw into boards. My first project is a bookcase for her classroom that you see above. I had to buy some banding and screws but she now has a 42”x36”x14 inch bookcase for less than $10.

Very nice. My wife is a teacher as well, and she’s asking me to make bookcase #2. Even if the school had the money to provide them (which they don’t), they’re still very lousy bookcases.
