This is a custom bed I built for a guy I work with. He wanted storage and for it to be built very rugged, so that’s what he got. The sideboards, footboard and sides to the head board are all butcher block design. The slats are 2 2×4s glued together and stood on end so its more stout. Its my 1st project that I’m getting paid for. I hope it’s a start to many more. I would like to build up a small business for retirement in 20 years or so. Maybe it will take off. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Nice looking bed. As far as building the business, study everything that is done on this site and don’t be afraid to study and ask questions. Consciously try to make every project better than the last. Always smile and be genuine to your customers.

Great looking bed.

I’m with you, I built my first coffee table for a client this year. I just did an estimate for a second job today I am waiting to hear back for the go ahead.
Congrats on a build for possible profit at doing something you really enjoy. I also am working on getting the part time woodworking business started up here in Mississippi.

All the best. Whatever I learn the hard way I will post for others in our situation.
You can’t beat getting paid to do something you really enjoy.

Great looking bed!

Whenever I see paper faced insulation exposed I tell the story about our old neighbor that left his garage like that. All it took was a light bulb that was bumped on a workbench that moved it closer to the wall. He lost everything he owned in about 30 minutes. Get some drywall with the profits from that bed.
