Hi all. This is a project I was commissioned to do for a PME School class at the base I work at. The idea behind the commission was that a group of Senior NCO’s sponsor a class of junior enlisted and at the end of the class would present them with a tangible token of their (graduating) success. This group of SNCOs came to me asking for proposals to frame the service uniform career field badges that represented each member of the class. The badges are chromed – about 1.75 inches wide. I pitched the idea of displaying them within the Air Force symbol. They stated they had only 10 days to get the project done! What self respecting woodworker would I be if I didn’t bite off on a project with an almost impossible deadline plus a high chance of failure :) Well…the guys and gals in our shop pulled it off – and here is the finished product. The center piece of the symbol is a laser engraved dedication to the class, infilled with silver ink and under the clearcoat. Needless to say…the class dug it! That’s the REAL success!
