July, 2012 – The shape for this one is something that just popped out when looking at the blank glue-up. The front face is cut so it curves and bulges at the center. The handles are oak also, from the same piece of wood as the center oak strip. Sanded to 220 grit and followed with a Tung Oil finish.’

I like the contrasting wood, lends a lot interest in a small form. The curved front is a great idea, so many of these are very flat. Great work!

Ah a nice one Art, What you also could have done was go another step, (get it, another step hahaha) and do another cove on the front and rear legs seperating them like I did on my tooth box. Did you just stop at 220 on this particular box for a different look? Just curious, I tipically take mine down to 600, then after a coat of Tung Oil I apply a few coats of Lacquer with a 600 sand after the first coat.

Nice bandsaw box. It looks like a pig with it’s mouth open REALLY wide.

Great, I hope additional ideas just keep on popping out ! A functional and artistic work, the best combination possible for bandsawn boxes!

The pig idea is great- especially with the bulging side. Someone should make one with a piggy outline. Hey- could even make a slot on the top before laminating and then have a piggy bank. Easy to get the money out.

Man that curved front really adds to this one. Makes me want to pick it up and hold it.
Very nice.

I’m a big fan of bandsaw boxes, and yours is one of the best I’ve ever seen. I love the semi-abstract zoomorphic form. Beauty!

You did an outstanding job with this box, it works nicely with the contours you used and the wood work well together

Now that is so cool. Now just ADD Head or have a Head box underneath of it. That would be really Calvin Cool.
