This unique chair was from my first collection. Its Made from 50-200 yrs old reclaimed old wood from old houses. No metal fasteners, just 32different kinds of pure Philippine wood repurposed. Please see my other works regarding the wood species.

Anyway, I remember almost giving up on this chair… I could imagine it in my head but all the tedious work and the hardness of the wood, made it so difficult to cut or use a wood lathe machine on. . It was sitting in my studio for 8months thinking how I could add more character and emotion to it.

NOTE: Yes, I watch Game of Thrones and it helped me finish the piece.

that’s a lot of painstaking joinery my friend. beautiful work and craftsmanship. 32 kinds of wood from the Philippines? As a Filipino myself, you have seriously gotten me curious about wood sourced from by birthplace. Thank you and I look forward to seeing more of your amazing work/art.

That is quite the chair. The time involved must have been incredible. Your pieces always have a nice natural flow to them. I especially like the joinery of the rails across the legs.

WOW! What an extraordinary piece! It actually reminds me of the illustrations from the original Aliens movie with the skeletal formations of the alien. The combination of woods is quite beautiful and effective in the aesthetics of the piece. Very, very nice!

Mabuhay Nico,
For the first chair, you already displayed your artistic creativity. The giant concept is there already. I think it’s gonna be huge probably 6 ft high. I know what is the feeling in dealing with Philippine hardwood from those century old houses. Keep posting your projects, it inspire me a lot to do projects from recycled wood.
Ang galing talaga! Wow.
Salamat,

-- Bert

That’s amazing.

First thing I’d do if I sat in that would be to assemble my minions and shout “BRING ME SOLO AND THE WOOKIE!”
