Looks great. A couple questions since this project is my to do list. How did you taper the legs? Did you put some sort of metal “spider” on the underside of the legs? Can you post a picture of the tilt mechanism? Really nice work, hope you enjoy it for years. Thanks.

Thanks, Gary
Ken,
The legs were tapered on the jointer. I set a stop block on the infeed table so the blades would hit the leg at the high point of the taper then made equal passes on poth sides of the leg.
No metal spider. The dove tailed joints were pretty strong.
Would love to post a picture of the pivot but- as you can see- all of the furnishings in the background are oak/light wood. My wife didn’t like the color so I gave it to a friend.
I will try to draw a simple diagram of the pivot and scan/post it for you.

Hi Lew,
This is a beautiful table. The legs and turned pedestal add nice details to the table. The finish looks gorgeous. Walnut is such a beautiful wood. A wiping oil or varnish is all that needs to be done to it to bring out its beauty.
Thanks for the post. I am sure that your friend appreciated the table as it is gorgeous.

Great table, Lew!
I don’t know what it is with these women who want all their furniture the same color. My wife is the same way. :-(

Great table. Your wife doesn’t understand. Items are made to stretch our likes.
I didn’t like sapwood on cherry, but I do now. use it as accent pieces.

Thanks, Karson!
I believe contrasting woods bring out the beauty in their surroundings and helps us appreciate each piece.
