Simple Box for a Friend

A good friend and co-worker just announced she is moving on to new ventures – so I scrambled to build “something” meaningful.

I had some book matched Birdseye Maple panels laying around that I was experimenting with, so that determined the build from there. The sides are Granadillo, which has been referred to as “poor mans rosewood”. All corners are grain matching.

Must deliver tomorrow – the circumstances of her leaving is kind of sad and political, so wanted to be sure she had a small token of appreciation….....

Thanks for looking.

I really like that subtle handle and the false one below gives a nice balance to the piece. Great that you gave her a beauty matching bottom too. Super gesture, fine work.

Jeff the accents for your finger to grab onto are great. You know the top explodes. Nice box and a great gift you have created.
