Well, just to prove I’ve been keeping busy….
The first project (Backgammon Board) is for my daughter in law’s birthday. Case is made from Cherry, Padauk and a piece of 1/4” ply. It started off as Cherry ply but I didn’t like the medallion up against it so it went through the drum sander a couple of times. I saw the medallion at Lee Valley Tools when I was looking for the hinges and hasps and had to have it.
Finished with three coats of Danish Oil and Minwax. Pieces are made from Walnut and Maple, game field is Walnut, Bird-Eye Maple and Cherry. Dividing strip is Cheery bordered with Padauk. I made the dice too and they are Maple and Walnut. A couple of holes are a bit wonky though :(
Second project is of course a Squirrel feeder….left over Cedar from project #3.
Took me a week to rip out the patio stones and build this baby. Pressure treated frame and Cedar deck and sides. That’s my darling daughter lending me a hand sanding the beast.
Hope you like.
Thanks for looking and as always, comments are always welcomed.

Love the Backgammon Board nicely done. Like the Squirrel feeder also, I have a lot a squirrel running around might have to try and make one for them, and is that a black squirrel? I have never seen one are they common

Thanks.
Sure is a Black Squirrel. We have a lot of black and grey ones around here. They have to share the feeder with a couple of Chippies (Chipmunks) too.

Don, I love the backgammon board. I’m glad to see that the jig is getting a workout.

Thanks all…
Peter – Veneer? Do you mean in the playing field?
The triangles and centre strip are 1/2” pieces. I’ve never tried my hand at veneering :)
