I love to turn pens… I started doing this around a year ago; it is so relaxing for me. My wife does not like me turning them because I simply make them and then they sit around the house. I have a family friend who goes around to the flee market circuit for a living and I gave her a big pile to let her try to get rid of so I can get it cleared through the department of the Hisey Treasury to purchase some more to make. These are some of the examples form my first year of turning!
I make my own blanks from lumber I have around the shop. I have ones in the gallery of Cherry, Walnut, and Oak.
I made several from a chunk of Mahogany which was given to me and they turned really well… I forgot to take photos… oops!

Very nice pens. You do good work while relaxing. I know all about the wife part. She came out to the shop one day and asked what I was making. Told her dust catchers. She was not amused. LOL Keep up the good work.

Making things to sell so we can buy more materials to make more things to sell to buy more materials etc etc. That is a business plan a lot of us are working under. I hope to stay away from pen turning because to does seem to be addictive.
