My youngest son, Tyler wanted a DVD rack for his bedroom and talked me into making one. I had him help me with this one. I had never made shelves so this was kind of fun. We measured a DVD, I also decided to put feet on the bottom since it was so tall and narrow. My other son wanted a bookshelf for his room at college and didn’t really want the old board and concrete block shelf. I made it to hold paperbacks and CD’s on top, textbooks in the middle and 3 ring binders on the bottom. We left it unfinished.

Hi Bill,
These are nice shelves. It was great to get them involved as well. Whether it inspires them to become woodworkers is not as important as the time that you spent together working on the project.
Nice job and thanks for the story behind it.

Good job. Shelves and bookcases are always useful projects.
