I’m refinishing a stairway railing and wanted something to hold it horizontally so I could apply finish to the whole thing at one time and have easy access to all sides. I came up with these two stands that have spring loaded 1/2” dowels with a sharp point in each end. It was much easier to set up than I thought it might be. It can handle any length object and dowels with different gripping features can be inserted since they are not locked into the stands.
