Padauk is one of my favorite exotics to work with. It plays nicely with the tools and generally contrasts well with just about anything. This time I paired it with some more of that bark pocket maple. The maple is like forest gump… you never know what you’re going to get. The box is roughly 4×8. and 4 ” tall

This is a very pretty box. I like the piece of maple you used for the top. I also like the shape of it. Great job. Padauk is also one of my favorite woods.

You missed one of the best parts of working with padauk – the smell! I love that spicy/perfumey smell it has. Nice job on the box, it’s tough not to stain lighter woods with the padauk dust, but it looks like you did a great job of keeping everything clean.
