these are a couple of small projects ive done while working on some larger projects, the one is made of red cedar and is a robust hiking staff, the smaller one here is made from oak, and is more petite i will be putting rubber tips on them in a few days when i go to the medical store for the tips..these are a lot of fun and im planning on doing many more, i also have an unlimited supply of bamboo and will be doing some of those as well, ill post them soon, thanks for checking these out, and for you comments…grizz

As some of the people who’ve looked at my twisted juniper have asked me, “how’d you get the pieces to twist that way?”
:-)
Nice work, great canes.

hey there jamie, if you getting old like me you cant afford to scratch to much without loosing more hair…..lol…these are really fun to make and there not that hard, i put a large shaving wheel in my drill press and go to it, i start on one end and turn them until i get to the other end, then i do a lot of sanding…and shape it so there is a good hand hold, i put 2 coats of oil on it, watco natural….if i were going to use one, it would be the cedar, but i made it for a gal i go to church with,,so i will be making more…thanks for the comments folks…grizz

Grizz, You’re getting good at these curly sticks. You think you need the rubber tip for safety/grip? I like the looks of the ones with a copper ferrule on the tip.
