What do you get a one year old for his birthday? A motorcycle, of course! I built this rocking motorcycle for my nephew’s 1st birthday. I probably had as much fun building it as he does riding it.

That is absolutely AWESOME!!!

Did you make this from some plans or is this your own creation? If it’s your design can I buy a set of plans from you? I definitely want to make this for my son.

Thank you all for the great comments. I did not have any plans for this project. I started out by drawing the motorcycle on a piece of poster board. Once I got the design and size i wanted, I started building. The frame and rear wheel were made from 2×12 pine boards planed down to 1 1/4” thickness. I had to widen the 2×12 board for the frame a couple of inches for the neck on the frame.. The front wheel was made from 1×12 planed down a bit. The bike turned out to be 36” long, so I made the rocker base 38” long and 15” wide using 2×6 pine boards planed down to 1 1/4” thickness. I believe the Rear wheel is 9.75” and front wheel is 10.25”.

I’m actually starting to build another one now with some slight modifications for my son. This time I am making templates for all the parts.

If you would like more info please just drop me a line I would be glad to help or send more photos!

I can’t take credit for the TV cabinet….it’s made by Hooker furniture. 44” console – Brookhaven collection.

With doing such a great job on the first one, it’s any wonder you don’t have a request list as long as your arm…..well done. Cheers, crowie
