I have been thinking about building a magazine rack for a place to put my woodworking magazines and books I’m reading. So I went looking and found this plan for a magazine rack with a top shelf which I thought would be just the ticket for a place to put my sandwich and drink while I read my Wood magazine and watch the news on TV. I found a nice piece of curly maple a a local supplier which was on sale and decided to use analine dye on it since the conventional stain doesn’t sink into rock hard maple very well. —Finished with 4 coats of polyurethane so I can spill my soda on it and it won’t ruin anything but the books and magazines.

Good-looking little rack. Quite striking color with the aniline dye ! You lucked out getting that wood on sale !

That dyed maple looks amazing. Normally I don’t care for stains and the like, but you did a great job.
