A good friend of mine made his “hunt of a lifetime” in Africa a few months ago. The pedestal is for an oryx shoulder mount. The thing has 3 1/2 ft horns and he only has 7 ft ceilings in his “trophy room”. The plaques are for the skulls of some of his other kills. The last pic is part of my shop with 2 more pedestals being made for his brother-in-law who arranged the hunt. Smaller pedestal and plaques are red oak with Varathane traditional cherry stain and poly semi-gloss. The pair of larger ones in the shop have Minwax red oak stain.

Your friend should be thrilled with such a beautiful display pedestal for his spectacular trophy. (I love the hidden area inside.)
