I made this box for our German exchange student as a going away gift before she went home. Gesa was with us for a year, and we are really going to miss her! The box is made of marble wood. I was pretty pleased with how the wrapped grain came out. The lid inset is 1/4” ply with a walnut burl veneer on the outside, and straight cut walnut veneer on the inside. It has a piano hinge with a brass chain to limit lid opening. It is finished with about 10 coats of gloss lacquer. I chose not to put flocking inside b/c the grain looked good on the inside too, and I didn’t want to cover it. I made her some slimline pens in assorted hardwoods, on for each of her family members. Thanks for looking.
