July, 2012—This is wood trimmed from an oak tree. I decided to experiment and see what would happen if I took this wood, just off the tree, and turned into a band saw box BEFORE allowing the wood to dry. Well, no surprise, the wood twisted and warped during and after construction. It may still do some more movement after these photos were taken today.
This has multiple coats of clear satin polyurethane, brushed on.

And live oak limb wood will probably keep moving, even after it’s “dry”.

I’m an experimenter also! But I could guess what would happen to your box as it dried!
Anyway…Wood is interesting no matter what you do with it!
If you got something made of wood… I’d be glad to take a look at it!

Well if all else fails you might be able to turn it into something different , sure looked like some nice wood though, I thought at first it was water elm.

Dallas introduced me to live oak and I love it but don’t think it plays well until dried.
