Box made with discarded 2X4 sealed knots with CA glue and saw dust
inset owl from butterflied pine knot,
splines with dowels and plugs as found on Ruddy’s site ( Aussie)..
thanks for the Idea Ruddy
Owl fit into a frame and then placed in the top carefully,
Splines off set due to error on jig..
now it is a design element.
finished with wipe on Poly..
Hinges are brass rods
wood is oak, walnut, pine, red heart( Plugs) and birch ( dowels)

I love the way you bookmatched that pine knot! You didn’t mention the Patron/Grizz hinges but I liked them and the way you attached them.
