My wifes sister passed away a little while back and she asked me to make a box for her remains, never having made a box (except bandsawn) I asked about jigs for a miter joint and one of our members Eddy said come on over and he would help. I cannot say enough about his skills and friendship in this. We did the cutting and gluing of the walls and splines at his shop and I finished the piece at mine. Again much thanks to him.
While over there I was able to help his daughter Cassie in how to apply a CA finish to the pens she makes and she was very happy to be able to finally see and do it. One good turn deserves another I feel.
Anyways the Urn itself is made of 3/4 walnut with Maple splines and finished in several coats of Deft with the first coat gloss and the remaining coats semi-gloss. My wife flocked the inside because in her minds eye this would create a cushion for her sister to lay upon and whom she dearly loved. Hope you all like it as it was an emotional experience for my wife seeing this come together and we will be placing it in a niche in Las Vegas later this month.
