This is my first real ww’ing project (not counting the lathe) in a decade. It’s close enough to being done to post up—just gotta soften the edges, attach the handles, and line the bottom with cedar.

It’s a (late) b-day gift for the missus. I started it in February; her b-day was a month ago…Family, work, school, you know how it is.

Took a full sheet of 3/4 cherry ply and about 40bf of cherry. That’s with mistakes and recuts. I love it, I think she likes it. You can see it is a bit different from the magazine’s picture; I left out the onlays to make it a bit simpler and to save some time. Even then, it was late in getting done.

The plans were very well written and easy to follow. I’ll edit this later to put the issue in. I recommend building it if you’re looking for a good set of plans. They aren’t floating panels; just a box with a face frame glued on.

Brad, I was following this on the SVR forum, glad to see it finally made it to completion. I probably would’ve taken twice as long to complete it. Nice work. What was the finish?

Thanks! Would have been done faster if I could just get the time.

I did, though, just notice a HUUUUGE mistake…look at the lid. I’m gonna have to make a new one.
