This started off as an expreiment, but turned out pretty cool. As my first real attempt at carving I think it came out pretty decent. The attempt was inspired by a 3D carved tool chest I had seen on the interent several years ago.

The top is decorated with my interpertation of the Seattle Seahawk Logo, Front is a artful version of the Space needle, and the corner carvings are actually eagle heads but slloed pretty cool. I rimmed the bottom with cresting waves.

This was alot of fun and I have allready started planning my nexy one, though the next attempt is going to be from soft Maple where I hope to get a little better lines. I am planning to made a trip to Woodcraft for a better carving set also.

Jeff, looks like you are working in the great naval tradition of scrimshaw here. I like that you worked around the corner of the box with your eagle head. What are you going to do about finish? Keep carving, keep boxing, keep posting.

Nice for your first carving keep it up, i agree with katdaddy Swissmade Pfeil carving knifes the be.st but are expensive another alternative are the Flex Knifes they keep a sharp edge and are easy to sharpen. Keep up the good work
