5-minute golf club. Grandson Kaler, 2 1/2, wanted to try his hand at golf. I had an old cutoff club that was way too heavy for him, so my son said, “How about making him one real quick?” A hunk of 2×2 and a length of 5/8 inch dowel, a little sawing and shaping and some quick setting glue…....”Fore!”

There’s a big warm spot in my heart for Kaler. I’m definitely rooting for him to be the next Jack Nicklaus – he’s a true great golfer and the world is ready for another like him. I had the great privilege of meeting him and Lee Trevino at the 1971 World Cup Championship in Palm Beach Gardens and also at the Masters – the year I almost turned pro but didn’t. If Kaler shows any interest in the sport, please by all means, help him achieve that very worthy goal. Best wishes to you all.
