Simple Bookshelf

This is a small sort of side project I did with some scrap Pine and Cherry. I had a bunch of books and junk piling up so i decided to build something to put it all on. The boards of the shelf are Cherry and all the supports are pine. I decided not to put a stain or finish on it because i liked the way it looked bare, plus both woods will age nicely together. Simple yet effective. And the shelf may look flimsy and weak but it is deceivingly strong and stiff.

Nice improvision.

I’d keep an eye on those back braces. Looks like both have major knots that will probably fail if put under much stress at all.

Good Luck!
