Here is a pic of a corner hutch I made for my Mom as a Christmas present. That was 29 years ago! She loved it then and still loves it today.
It was made entirely from #2 white pine. Each back consists of two pieces of 1×12 attached together with wooden cleats that also serve as shelf supports. The bottom has one shelf as well as the bottom which serves as a shelf also.
I rounded the edges, stained (can’t recall the brand) and sprayed with Deft Clear Wood Finish.
I think I need to make another one.
Edit: I had to rotate the pic. Sorry about that. I have the hardest time getting orientation right when uploading from my phone.
