Crib for my son - the beginning

Project by Brian posted 590 days ago 417 views 0 times favorited 3 comments Add to Favorites Watch

The crib building process started in May of 2007. My son was due the following month in June, but a full time job and at that time working on my Master’s degree during the evenings and weekends left me little time to tackle any woodworking projects, let alone my first woodworking project since 8th grade. What that means is it’s been roughly 17 years since I crafted anything out of wood. So I did some research, read through a good amount of projects on LJ, viewed most of Marc Spagnuolo’s podcasts, asked questions of fellow LJ’s that had constructed cribs, recorded and viewed Norm religiously… and then finally bought the wood. I decided to go with poplar because my wife and I wanted white furniture in the nursery. The pictures shown on this entry give you a view of my working area, some tools, and the freshly purchased wood for the crib… and yes I over purchased.

Brian,

That is some nice looking wood there. You didn’t over purchase. You just got a head start on the next project. A matching changing table?
